Production Lead - Frozen 2nd Shift

Summary:

This position is responsible to support the Production Supervisor in directing work activities to start up shift operations, monitoring production processing procedures and work methods, and assigning work tasks to insure all production areas meet process and quality standards within the production schedules assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Production Supervisor with shift start-up activities, including distribution of paperwork for each production system, job assignments, and coordination of needed schedule adjustments.
  • Instruct contract employees in work rules, methods, and procedures for assignment.
  • Re-assign or perform production tasks in any position to insure proper coverage during absences or breaks for regularly assigned employees.
  • Monitor work activity in all production areas to address problems, insure processing procedures, safety rules, and sanitation standards are followed,
  • In absence of supervisor, act as liaison with Personnel and/or department head for all personnel related concerns. Document any work injury or rule violation for Production Supervisor review and action.
  • Assist Production Supervisor with cross-training of personnel in job functions as needed.
  • Assist with basic maintenance and adjustment of equipment in production areas as needed.
  • Insure proper completion of shift records through CRT data entry for HRD's, labor hours, extra packaging, etc.
  • Follow all safety procedures and participate in safety training. Maintain safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and person. Report any injury or accident immediately to supervisory and/or any unsafe condition.
  • Supports food safety, quality and legality.
  • Support, and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs.
  • Support and comply with GMP’s
  • Participate in TPM initiatives.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude to understand and effect equipment operation and basic maintenance for the job functions described.
  • Mathematical aptitude to work with formulas and measures required to perform job functions described.
  • Must be dependable and demonstrate the ability to follow directions
  • Ability to make independent decisions within well -defined guidelines
  • Basic math skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Strong PC skills

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent and ability to read, speak, and write English so as to assimilate, retain, and apply knowledge of job functions and recognize and communicate problems and recommended solutions.
  • Two years experience with Company products, standards, and production processes, including knowledge of computer documentation and operation required for production areas.
  • At least six months training and actual work experience in functions of this position.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand and effect equipment operation and basic maintenance for the job functions described.
  • Mathematical aptitude to work with formulas and measures required to perform job functions described.
