Sanitation Lead

This position supports the Sanitation Supervisor in directing work activities to maintain the cleanliness of the physical plant and equipment, including the building structure and process equipment, within cleaning time deadlines.


Job Responsibilities

        • Responsibility includes the management of activities for the safety, integrity, legality, and quality of our food products
        • Instructs employees in work rules, methods, and procedures for assigned tasks.
        • Monitors work activity to address problems, ensure processing procedures, safety rules, and sanitation standards are followed
        • Disassembles, washes, cleans, and sanitizes all production line equipment at the end of the production week or after a changeover to prevent cross-contamination of product
        • Cleans walls, floors, overhead pipes, and drains within the department using established procedures
        • Washes all utensils used for processing and mixing of products.
        • Trained and certified to follow sanitation procedures for proper chemical solutions use, and proper concentrations so that they are not harmful to workers or equipment.
        • Checks cleaning records indicating frequency, duration, temperature, concentration and use of final sanitizing product.
        • Coordinates cleaning with maintenance and production for on time production start-up. Understands and follows the Daily and Master Sanitation Schedule.
        • Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training. Maintains safe and efficient use of equipment, tools, and PPE. Reports any injury, accident, or unsafe condition immediately to supervisor
        • Follows all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices). Monitors and corrects violations in assigned area


Skills and Experience


  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, with strong personal leadership and communications experience
  • Ability to provide good work direction, and training
  • Ability to address employee concerns and issues in a timely manner; resolves problems in a fair and consistent fashion
  • Able to make independent decisions within well-defined guidelines
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand and effect equipment operation and basic maintenance for the job function described
  • Ability to understand safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to life and move up to 50 lbs. throughout the work day
  • Able to lift and operate high-pressure hose or steam hoses, COP tanks, and portable foamers
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of 1 year of sanitation experience in a food production facility
